WHAT IS TINNITUS?

What is Tinnitus?

In general the term tinnitus is used to describe noises that are perceived in one or both ears. The noises can return constantly or occasionally and are described to vary greatly in type and volume.

Comparable with pain, tinnitus is not a disease, but rather a symptom. Which is why the focus must be placed first and foremost on the cause, which is not always easy to diagnose. In addition to different types of medical diseases, noise and stress is assumed to be the trigger in more than half of all those affected.

Tinnitus can be:

  • A buzzing or ringing in the ears
  • A hissing or roaring sound
  • High-, low-, single- or multi-toned
  • Occasional or constant

Tinnitus can trigger negative emotions. Often the severity of your reaction depends on your perception of the sound. If it’s negative, you’re likely to have a negative emotional response. When you do, it can make your brain pay more attention to the tinnitus. And a cycle begins that affects your nervous systems. Anxiety, sleep disturbance, depression and poor concentration can occur, all of which reinforce the vicious cycle.

Recovery for the hearing and the entire person: Tinnitus management.

Tinnitus management begins by finding the cause of the ear noise. Less stress, more quiet and more harmony with regard to one’s own needs are central aspects.

Essential tools to achieve this are digital noise generators. They surround the tinnitus noise with a soft blanket of noise and weaken the undesired perception considerably as a result.

The goal is to not drown out the tinnitus, but rather to perceive it in a relaxed, stress and anxiety free manner. So that our brain can classify it as less and less important with time and finally like all unimportant signals completely fade it out.
